Holberg D.N.D. Road Hydrotechnical upgrades

North Island Rockpro completed Hydro-technical upgrades to the Department of National Defense Holberg radar base access road.

This work included the manufacture of specified crush to place on the road surface and specified drain cobble to armor ditches along with culvert replacements and armoring, slide debris cleanup and new signage. Our Extec E-7 mobile screen plant was operated onsite and was instrumental in providing the materials efficiently and inexpensively.

We met or exceeded all project requirements while maintaining a strong and efficient relationship with the Department of National Defense. Our extensive experience operating in the Holberg area was indispensable in getting the work done quickly.

Laydown Yards for Vestas

Built as transfer stations for transporting massive wind turbines on route to the Cape Scott Wind Farm.

Two laydown yards were needed to manage and organize the fragile freight being delivered to the wind farm site for final installation. We cleared the land and prepared the two sites to the precise grade and specifications necessary for laying down the over dimensional loads safely. A perfectly level site with effective drainage was necessary to maintain the grade while loading, unloading and storing the windmill components.

The East Laydown Yard is two acres and the West site is five areas. Multiple access points and security fencing finished the projects. The Cape Scott Wind Farm is soon to be operational and North Island Rockpro is proud to be part of this enormous project.

Seine Floats

North Island Rockpro was the General Contractor in charge of rebuilding the Seine Floats in Port Hardy, British Columbia.

This million and a half dollar project was funded by the District of Port Hardy and needed to address a wide range of local uses. The entire shoreline was reconstructed to properly support the surrounding area. A scenic day use park and pathway was incorporated as well as washroom facilities.

The area also serves as short and long term parking for fishermen and boaters. A substantial amount of drilling and blasting were required to provide better access to the facility. North Island Rockpro as General Contractor for the site organized the completion of all aspects including landscaping and paving. All the infrastructure was upgraded during this process to better supply the facilities with water and other utilities such as sewer.
